How long does a White Card course take?

By CBD College · Reviewed by our training team · Updated 10 July 2026 · 3 min read

A White Card course takes one day. CBD College's CPCWHS1001 General Construction Induction is delivered entirely face-to-face — training and supervised assessment are all completed in class on the day, with nothing to do online before or after. You receive your Statement of Attainment the same day, so you can start on site straight away; your plastic White Card is then mailed to you by SafeWork NSW, usually within 2–4 weeks.

One day, all in class

Our White Card workshop runs over a single day, with direct interaction with an experienced trainer and hands-on practice. There's no pre-course work and no online component — the training and the supervised assessment are all completed in class, and your Statement of Attainment is issued the same day.

Can you do a White Card online?

Not with us — and be careful with online offers generally. The General Construction Induction requires supervised, face-to-face assessment, so a White Card can't be completed entirely online. Our one-day, in-person course takes care of everything in one go.

What the day involves

  • Construction safety fundamentals and hazard identification
  • Risk management and your legal obligations on site
  • Emergency procedures
  • Assessment: written questions, practical demonstration and group activities

Frequently asked questions

Can I finish a White Card in a day?

Yes — the face-to-face workshop is completed in a single day, and you receive your statement of attainment so you can apply for your card.

Can I do the White Card fully online?

No. The induction requires supervised, face-to-face assessment, so it can't be completed entirely online.
