What is a White Card and do I need one?

A White Card is the CPCWHS1001 General Construction Induction — the mandatory safety induction you must complete before working on a construction site in Australia. If you work on or enter a construction site, you need one: tradespeople, labourers, apprentices, supervisors and many delivery, survey and site-office roles.
What it covers
The course covers how to work safely in construction — identifying hazards, understanding WHS responsibilities, risk control and what to do in an incident or emergency on site.
How you get it
The General Construction Induction must be delivered with face-to-face assessment. CBD College runs it in a single day, and you receive your nationally recognised statement of attainment so you can apply for your card.
Frequently asked questions
Can I do the White Card fully online?▾
No — the induction requires supervised, face-to-face assessment, so it can't be completed entirely online.
