CBD College — RTO 91399

Policies & Procedures

CBD College Pty Ltd is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 91399), regulated by ASQA. This page summarises our key student-facing policies. For cancellations, refunds and switching classes, see Cancellations, Refunds & Switching; for certificate and USI matters, see Certificates & USI.

Your consumer rights

CBD College complies with all relevant state and federal legislation relating to your rights as a consumer, including (but not limited to) the Privacy Act 1988, the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, and the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Code of practice

In line with the ethical provision of education and training services, CBD College commits to:

  • Ensuring the health and safety of our employees and participants
  • Acting with honesty, integrity and responsibility
  • Not engaging in unfair or harsh conduct towards participants or colleagues
  • Ensuring staff don't engage in practices that bring the college into disrepute
  • Keeping trainers aware of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Underpinning our policies and procedures with sound management practices
  • Providing an inclusive learning environment conducive to achieving competency
  • Monitoring and securely maintaining participant education records
  • Ensuring all facilitators are suitably qualified and sensitive to participant needs
  • Dealing fairly and equitably with clients and students

Access and equity

We do not discriminate against any individual on the basis of race, colour, sex or religion, and all students are treated equally. Our trainers will assist and support students where appropriate — especially those with language, literacy or physical needs — as long as the nature of the need doesn't prevent completion of the training and assessment. Discriminatory behaviour from students is not tolerated. Questions about access and equity can be directed to the CEO.

Limitation of liability

If a course is cancelled or rescheduled by CBD College, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the course (including fees and charges). Unless required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law), we're not liable for other losses — such as travel or accommodation costs — arising from a cancellation, rescheduling or relocation. Please review the cancellation policies of your travel, accommodation and other providers, and consider relevant travel insurance.

Academic integrity (plagiarism, cheating and AI misuse)

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's words or ideas as your own. Plagiarism and cheating — including directly copying text generated by AI tools and submitting it as your own work — are not tolerated and will result in cancellation of your enrolment, with no refund given. Submissions may be checked with plagiarism-detection software.

Punctuality

You must arrive ready for class before the stated start time — if you're delayed, call and advise your trainer or coordinator before the class starts. Access may be denied if the trainer determines a late arrival would be detrimental to the class's learning and progress.

Complaints and appeals (grievance policy)

All formal complaints must be submitted in writing using the official CBD College Complaints Form, available by emailing info@cbdcollege.edu.au. Receipt is acknowledged within 3 business days, and management will investigate and respond by email.

If you're not satisfied with the outcome, appeals can be directed to the RTO CEO, Matthew Gee, at matthew@cbdcollege.edu.au. If you remain unsatisfied with the CEO's response, you can seek assistance from the VET regulator, ASQA.

Note: this complaints/appeals pathway is for training and assessment matters. If your concern is specifically about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first so we can investigate — if you're not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). See our Privacy Policy for full detail.

RTO guarantee

By accepting our terms and conditions at enrolment, you and CBD College enter a Training Agreement. We warrant to complete your training and/or assessment once you've commenced study in your chosen qualification, provided you remain in your cohort or short-course class and meet all assessment requirements. This guarantee extends to reasonable postponements for medical reasons.

Privacy

CBD College is committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. In short:

  • We collect information needed to enrol you, deliver training and assessment, issue certificates, verify your USI, process payments and provide support — including information required for nationally recognised training reporting (AVETMISS).
  • We're required by law to disclose some information to government bodies and regulators, including NCVER and ASQA, for statistical, regulatory and reporting purposes.
  • We use trusted service providers (including our student management, Student Portal, booking, payment and CRM platforms) and require them to protect your information — we do not sell your personal information.
  • You can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you.
  • You can opt out of marketing communications at any time without affecting essential communications about a course you're enrolled in.

For any privacy question or request, contact our Privacy Officer at info@cbdcollege.edu.au or 1300 616 218, or write to CBD College Pty Ltd, Level 5, 8 Quay Street, Haymarket NSW 2000.
