How do I enrol?
You enrol online through the class finder on any course page — choose your course, location and date, then pay securely to confirm your place. Your course commences as soon as you enrol: you get immediate access to the Student Portal, with your learning resources and assessments, and full support available online or by phone.
What are the general computer and equipment requirements?
- Coffee, RCG and First Aid students need to complete an online learning component and must be computer-literate.
- Certificate IV and WHS students (including TAE) need to bring a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop with Microsoft Office installed (2007 or later for PC, 2010 or later for Mac) to class each day. All assessment documents are in Microsoft Word, and TAE students also need to use PowerPoint.
If you're not confident with these programs, arrange some tuition before your course starts — competency with this software is essential to completing your assessments.
What language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills do I need?
- Coffee and First Aid students need to be able to follow and recall instructions from the trainer to complete assessed activities, including practical demonstrations and written/multiple-choice questions (delivered via an online learning platform).
- All other courses require effective language, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to produce written documentation. You'll need to read and interpret training materials, present information, use technology and prepare records, along with cognitive skills in planning, research, interpretation, analysis and synthesis.

What attendance is required?
CBD College courses require 100% attendance for all classroom face-to-face training days, unless:
- Your trainer has confirmed your attendance isn't required because you've already demonstrated the relevant course content, or
- Other circumstances acceptable to the trainer prevent you from attending — in which case, you and your trainer will arrange how the missed content is made up.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is a formal process where your existing skills and knowledge — from formal or informal training, work experience or other life experience — are assessed for recognition towards a unit of competency or a full qualification. It is a genuine, rigorous assessment process, not an easy shortcut.
Which courses offer RPL: RPL is generally available for our longer qualifications — Cert IV TAE and Cert IV/Diploma of WHS. Given the short duration and low cost of First Aid, Barista, RSA/RCG and White Card courses, RPL isn't usually a practical option for these — the cost of formally assessing prior learning is greater than simply completing the course. In rare circumstances, RPL may still be considered.
How it works:
- Contact CBD College on 1300 616 218 (or email info@cbdcollege.edu.au) to discuss whether RPL is a realistic option for you, before you enrol — RPL must be applied for prior to enrolment.
- Once you've spoken with a qualified assessor, you may be asked for supporting documents such as academic transcripts, a current resume or a job description.
- You'll need to provide sufficient, current, authentic and valid evidence against all aspects of the relevant unit(s) or qualification. Where evidence gaps exist, you may be asked to provide additional evidence, take part in a competency conversation, and/or complete gap assessment(s).
- If gaps can't be bridged with evidence alone, you may be asked to attend gap training at CBD College before further gap assessment. Gap training and gap assessment incur additional costs.
Credit transfer
Applications for credit transfer must be made before enrolment. Each application is assessed individually, and credit transfer is only granted for units that are identical or equivalent to ones you've already completed (with currency of that learning demonstrated). Because our assessments are integrated across a course, a credit transfer rarely reduces the overall course fee.
Fees and funding
Course fees are as advertised for each training program. Your course commences as soon as you enrol, giving you immediate access to the Student Portal and student support.
CBD College is a fee-for-service training provider and does not access any government funding, including VET Student Loans — course fees are payable in full (or via an available payment plan) regardless of your circumstances.
International students and CRICOS status
CBD College is not a CRICOS-registered provider. International students on a visa that requires study at a CRICOS-registered institution cannot enrol in any CBD College course or qualification — this applies consistently across TAE40122, Cert IV WHS, Diploma WHS and all other courses.
