Is your first aid certificate nationally recognised? (USI explained)
By CBD College · Reviewed by our training team · Updated 6 June 2026 · 3 min read
A nationally recognised first aid certificate is one issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and accepted across Australia. CBD College is RTO 91399, so your statement of attainment is nationally recognised. You'll need a free USI (Unique Student Identifier) to be issued the certificate.
What 'nationally recognised' means
Nationally recognised training is delivered against units of competency in the national training framework and can only be issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Your statement of attainment is recognised by employers and regulators anywhere in Australia.
Why the USI is required
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a free, lifelong number that records your nationally recognised training. An RTO can't issue your certificate without it. You can create one in a few minutes at usi.gov.au, and reuse it for every future course.
How to check a certificate is genuine
- It names the RTO and its RTO number (CBD College is RTO 91399).
- It lists the unit code(s), e.g. HLTAID011.
- It's a 'statement of attainment' for nationally recognised training.
