Provide Responsible Gambling Services (RCG) is the foundation for mandatory training on responsible gambling for new hoteliers, secretary managers, and gaming-related staff. It is a requirement of the Gaming Machines Act 2001 for proposed hoteliers, secretary managers, and staff who will have gaming machine-related functions to have completed the NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and RCG courses. This course is conducted over a minimum of six hours, and there are no exemptions.

RCG training undertaken interstate is not recognized in NSW, emphasizing the need for a bar staff training course tailored to state regulations.

Nationally Recognised 5 Hour Barista Course

We provide new commercial machines for students to practice on. What makes us different? Every student gets their own steam wand/group handle for the day. There is no waiting. We have one trainer for every 7 students.

Our 5-hour barista course results in a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment bearing the units of competency SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee and, at no extra charge, SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety (issued by CBD College, RTO# 91399). This bar skills course can be completed in one day or split over separate days (3 hours one day, 2 hours on another).

Recent Changes

Liquor and Gaming NSW (L&G) is the regulator of RSA/RCG courses in NSW. They have recently changed the rules governing the way they issue RCG competency cards. You now need to do the course with an approved training provider (like CBD College) and then afterwards complete an additional 25 multiple-choice questions. You will be notified by L&G by text or email after your class, and once this assessment is complete, you will be issued with an Interim Certificate. This serves as your RSA certificate until you receive your competency card at a Service NSW centre.

The issued photo card must be retained when working on any licensed premises, which is part of the essential bar work courses requirements.

Who Can Enrol

Anyone who has never previously held an RSA cert or whose competency card has expired for more than 28 days can enrol. Student visa holders are also eligible to enroll in these alcohol courses.

Who Cannot Enrol

Anyone who holds a current RSA/RCG competency card or whose competency card has only recently expired in the past 28 days cannot enrol. In this case, you need to refresh with Liquor and Gaming directly.

Prior Knowledge

No prior knowledge is required to attend the RSA training course.

RSA Course Times

Our classes run from 8.45 am to 3.15 pm. We conduct RSA day courses every week of the year. Classes start promptly, so do not be late! We will not allow entry if you are more than 15 minutes late; in such a case, you will need to re-book and pay again for another session.

What Do I Bring?

Candidates must bring one form of original photo ID on the day of the course (passport, Australian Drivers License, or RTA Proof of Age Card). Barista students need to wear enclosed shoes to participate in the alcohol training courses.

Cancellation Policy

We are unable to refund monies for students who do not turn up for classes or decide at a later date after booking that they do not want to attend. Changes to class times are allowed, but not within 48 hours of the class commencing.
