Requirements

Entry Requirements & Assessment

Entry Requirements

You must hold the core units from BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent predecessors mapped as equivalent). A copy of your academic transcript listing the Cert IV WHS core units is required on enrolment. Students who have not completed Cert IV WHS must enrol and complete it first.

Assessment Work

All assessments are scenario-based and integrated β€” no workplace placement required. You are required to start working on Assessment 1 prior to Day 1 of the face-to-face component. You'll continue working on assessments during the 5 face-to-face days, so you'll already have momentum when the classroom component ends.

What to Bring

Photo ID, a pen and paper and your laptop with Microsoft Office installed (2007+ for PC, 2010+ for Mac). All resource files are available in your student portal upon enrolment. Neat, comfortable clothing required.

Flexible Completion

Work at your own pace after the face-to-face days. There is no minimum time β€” hand in your work as soon as it is completed. Students are enrolled for 12 months. Average to excellent computer skills along with WHS experience can greatly lower the time spent on assessments.

What Our Graduates Say

"I recently completed a WHS Diploma course with CBD College and can't speak highly enough about the program. The trainer was inspiring and delivered the course in a manner that we could all fully understand. His knowledge is second to none, thanks Colin. The CBD staff are terrific and provide all the support in the background β€” thanks to Kerry for making me feel my emails were priority, very special people. Jump on board if you want a great training experience, five stars from me."

"I recently completed my Certificate IV in WHS through CBD College and had a fantastic experience! The course structure was well-organised β€” a 5-day intensive Zoom training followed by self-paced assessment. All learning materials and resources were provided upfront and were easy to follow. The trainer was outstanding β€” knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely supportive. They were available not only during the Zoom sessions but also afterward for any questions or clarification I needed. The online learning portal was also super user-friendly and made the process even smoother. I honestly couldn't fault the experience and am now seriously considering enrolling in the Diploma of WHS. Highly recommend!"

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the entry requirements for the Diploma of WHS?

You must hold the core units from BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent predecessors mapped as equivalent). A copy of your academic transcript listing the Cert IV WHS core units is required on enrolment. If you haven't completed Cert IV WHS, you must enrol and complete it first.

Can my employer pay for the course?

Yes. Many employers pay directly or reimburse course fees. We can invoice your employer on request.

Do you offer help sessions after the face-to-face days?

Yes. After completing the face-to-face component, you can join our Zoom help sessions with your trainer. These sessions are perfect for revision and working through any assessment questions you need support with.

Is this qualification recognised nationally?

Yes. BSB51319 is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework. CBD College is a registered training organisation (RTO 91399) regulated by ASQA.

What's the difference between Zoom and Classroom delivery?

Both are face-to-face with a live trainer β€” the only difference is location. Zoom students join from home via video conferencing. Classroom students attend our Sydney or Melbourne CBD campus. Same qualification, same trainers, same outcome.

I did my Cert IV WHS with another provider. Can I still enrol?

Yes, as long as you hold the core units of BSB41419 (or equivalent predecessors). You'll need to provide your academic transcript on enrolment. Contact us if you're unsure whether your prior qualification meets the entry requirements.

Why does CBD College use integrated assessments?

Integrated assessments mean less work for you. Instead of completing a separate assessment for each unit, our assessments are designed to cover multiple units at once β€” reducing duplication and keeping the workload manageable. We write all our own assessments in-house so they are relevant, practical and interesting. We don't use off-the-rack assessments.

What can I do after the Diploma of WHS?

The Diploma of WHS opens up senior WHS coordinator and WHS manager roles across a wide range of industries. It demonstrates you have the skills and knowledge to manage and lead workplace health and safety at an organisational level.
