"Brilliant day. The trainer was patient, the machines were spotless, and I left actually knowing how to pour a rosetta. Five hours felt like the perfect amount — we started with no idea and finished making coffees that tasted like a real cafe."

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Do I need any prior barista experience?

No prior experience is needed. We teach you how to use a commercial espresso machine from scratch. By the end of the day you'll be able to froth milk, pull espresso shots, make every coffee you'd find in a cafe, and clean and maintain the machine.

What certificate do I receive?

A Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee and SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety, issued by CBD College (RTO No. 91399). The qualification is recognised across Australia and never expires.

Can I split the course across two days?

Yes. The full course is 5 hours: 3 hours of core barista training plus 2 hours of latte art. You can complete it in one day or split it (3 hours one day, 2 hours another). When you book the 3-hour class, you'll be prompted to choose your latte art date next.

What days and times do classes run?

Brisbane classes run Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00am to 2:00pm. There are no Sunday or Monday classes. Use the booking widget above to see live availability across the next few weeks.

How much is the 5-hour barista course?

The 5-hour Nationally Recognised Barista Course in Brisbane is $199. This includes hands-on training on commercial machines, your own dedicated steam wand and group handle for the day, all coffee and milk, the online pre-course assessment, and your nationally recognised certificate on completion.

Where is the Brisbane barista course held?

Ground Floor Suite 4 (G-04), Ladhope Chambers, 131 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill QLD 4000 — just behind Brisbane Central Station. We're on street level right at the front of the building, so no lifts to find or floors to count.

What's the trainer-to-student ratio?

1:8. Every student gets their own dedicated steam wand and group handle for the day — no waiting around, just real practice time on the machine.

Is there pre-course online learning?

Yes. Before class you'll complete a short online module with a multi-choice questionnaire. This means your time on the day is spent on the machines — not in front of a screen.

Will this help me get a barista job?

Yes. Most cafes in Australia require a Nationally Recognised barista certificate. Our trainers also share real advice on the Brisbane coffee scene to help you land your first role.

How is the course assessed?

You'll be assessed in class via direct observation of practical tasks — making coffees and demonstrating safe, hygienic practice. The pre-course online questionnaire covers the theory side. There's no written exam at the end.

What should I bring on the day?

Just yourself and closed-toe shoes (food safety requirement). We provide all the coffee, milk, equipment and aprons.
