Frequently Asked Questions

Are the courses nationally recognised?

Yes. CBD College is a 100% Australian owned training organisation. Our training programs are nationally accredited with ASQA. We specialise in providing intensive training programs to achieve timely and cost effective solutions for our clients. We are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO ID: 91399).

Does your Cert IV TAE course include the LLN unit?

Yes it does. This unit is the NEW LLN unit, TAELLN411 - Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Why is that your course can be run in only 6 days (Cert IV TAE) and 5 days (Cert IV OHS/WHS) when other providers generally run this over a longer period?

CBD College has devised its own training materials and assessments which have been independently audited and validated to cover the requirements for this qualification. Using technology and innovative training and assessment methods, we are able to offer this course in a 6-day period (TAE) and 5-day period (OHS/WHS).

What do I wear?

Neat and tidy comfortable clothing is required to be worn.

Can I seek credits for other units already achieved?

Yes. Obtaining credit for units already achieved is possible but candidates must have the exact unit name and unit code for this to be granted. An earlier version of any of the listed units in our qualifications will not count towards credit. You must hold the current unit in order for credit to be granted. If a candidate is successful in being granted a credit, the saving for them may be a saving in time and will not result in the course fee being reduced.

Do you have a dedicated booking office?

Yes. As we are one of Sydney's largest vocational trainers and we have a dedicated booking office on level 10 of the Dymocks Building. You do not need to be worried about being turned away because a class is in progress or visiting at a specified time. We look forward to seeing you.

How do I pay for the course?

Payments need to be made for our classes with a credit card online (our site is highly secure - payment is made via the Commonwealth Bank), or call us on 1300 616 218 and pay by credit card over the phone, or by coming to our Sydney office Mon-Fri 9am-5pm at the above address to pay by cash, EFTPOS or credit card. Bookings for our courses prior to the day of the course are essential and candidates cannot be enrolled without paying first.

Does the advertised price include the workbooks and all materials I need?

Yes, everything is included. USB materials, workbooks, textbooks etc are all included. You do not have to worry about "surprising extras" once you start with us.

What do I bring to the class?

Just bring yourself, your laptop, the pre-reading material (if applicable) and some writing material if you want to take any notes during the course. Our classes start promptly so don’t be late!

What do I get when I graduate?

After you have submitted your assessments and have been deemed Competent, you will receive a nationally recognised Record of Transcript and Certificate issued by CBD College Pty Ltd.

What does the change from Cert IV OHS to Cert IV WHS actually mean?

BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety has now been superseded by BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety. For more information, see the government's VET website https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/BSB41412

In other words, this new Cert IV WHS replaces the Cert IV OHS that some RTOs are still offering (the government allows a transition period for RTOs to transfer over to the new qualification). Whilst it is recognised by the government as being 'equivalent' to the old qualification, the qualification has recently been updated to take into account changing technology, industry processes, industry jargon and industry demands.

What if I hold Cert IV OHS?

If you hold Cert IV OHS and achieved it in the last several years, your qualification is still seen as holding currency in the market. However, without the core units of the new Cert IV WHS, you will now no longer be able to enrol into a Diploma WHS (as core Cert IV WHS units are now prerequisites to entry into the Dip WHS).

How can I get into a Diploma if I hold a Cert IV OHS?

CBD College offers an 'upgrade' which will involves an additional assessment that will need to be undertaken in order for candidates holding a current Cert IV OHS to achieve the core units of the Cert IV WHS (which will then satisfy the prerequisite for entry into the Diploma of WHS). Click here to find out if you are a suitable candidate, for more information and to enrol in this course. This course is online only (not face-to-face) and involves the completion of 1 x assessment task utilising online resources that we provide.

In this transition period, I have a choice as some RTOs are offering the old OHS and some are offering WHS. Which should I choose?

You should do the Cert IV WHS and have the most up-to-date qualification in the market. Ours is considered by many to be one of the best options for achieving the Cert IV WHS as the qualification is 5-days face -to-face with just 5 integrated assessments.
